Recreational Soccer Built Around Fun, Development, and Community

AYSO Region 286 CORE is the foundational recreational soccer program offered by AYSO and has been the heart of the organization for generations. Built around AYSO’s nationally recognized Six Philosophies, the CORE program is designed to provide a fun, safe, and positive soccer experience for players of all skill levels while emphasizing player development, teamwork, and community involvement over wins and standings.

Whether your child is stepping onto the field for the very first time or has played for several seasons, CORE is designed to create an environment where every player has the opportunity to learn, grow, and enjoy the game of soccer. Our focus is on teaching the fundamentals of soccer while helping players build confidence, friendships, leadership skills, and a lifelong love of the game.

The Six AYSO Philosophies

At the center of the CORE program are AYSO’s Six Philosophies:

Everyone Plays®

Every player on every team plays at least 50% of every game. AYSO believes kids register to play soccer, not sit on the sidelines.

Balanced Teams

Teams are formed as evenly balanced as possible each season to promote competitive and enjoyable games while encouraging player growth and teamwork.

Open Registration

AYSO welcomes all players regardless of skill level or soccer experience. Every child has the opportunity to participate.

Positive Coaching

Coaches are encouraged to create a supportive and encouraging environment where players can learn, improve, and build confidence while enjoying the game.

Good Sportsmanship

Respect for teammates, opponents, referees, coaches, and spectators is a major part of the AYSO experience. We strive to teach players how to compete with integrity and character.

Player Development

The CORE program emphasizes age-appropriate skill development and learning opportunities to help every player improve at their own pace while maximizing their enjoyment of soccer.

What to Expect From CORE Soccer

The Region 286 CORE program is a recreational soccer program that operates during both the fall and spring seasons. Players are grouped into age-appropriate divisions to help create a balanced and enjoyable experience for all participants. Games and practices are designed to focus on development, participation, and fun while still allowing players to experience healthy competition in a supportive environment.

AYSO CORE is more than just soccer. It is a community-driven program built by volunteers, families, coaches, referees, and players who work together to create a positive experience both on and off the field. For many families, CORE becomes the starting point of a lifelong connection to the game and the AYSO community.
